Gardening in a Jaunty Hat is a short, frenetic piece that explores the interaction between the violin and guitar. It is at times fun and playful, other times somewhat dramatic. As the piece develops, short bits of motivic material that seemed incidental at first become magnified, expanded, and deconstructed before building up to an exciting climax.
